Te gast: LRE Youth Forum

The first edition of the Youth Forum, a two day event on the 2nd and 3th of March, organised by the LRE Foundation. Young people aged 18–25 are invited to explore the theme “The Future of Remembrance” from a youth perspective. The programme includes lectures, workshops, site visits, and open discussions. Lindenberg Cultuurhuis will host the opening of this event, between 9:00-13:00.

The Youth Forum brings together engaged young people, students, and young professionals from different backgrounds, such as history, political science, memory and cultural studies, as well as anyone interested in how societies remember war. The forum offers a chance to meet like-minded peers, exchange ideas, and build an international network.

During the two-day programme, participants will reflect on and discuss the importance of remembrance for today’s youth. Topics include the role of remembrance in education and how digital tools and new formats can make WWII remembrance more accessible and meaningful. Participants will also explore projects related to Ukraine, focusing on documenting the ongoing war and the challenges of misused or distorted historical narratives in the Russian–Ukrainian conflict.

A guided site visit in Nijmegen will complete the programme and give participants the opportunity to learn more about the city’s local WWII history.

Participation in the Youth Forum is free of charge. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs. All programme-related expenses, including workshops, site visits, and meals during the event, will be covered by the organisers.
